Korean bass Sung Ha studied at Yonsei University in Seoul and completed his diploma in 2007 at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama under William Workman. In 2010, he had a scholarship from the Richard Wagner Association and was a member of the ensemble at Theatre Regensburg from 2006 to 2011. Since the 2011/12 season, he has been a member of the ensemble at the Nationaltheater Mannheim, where his roles have included Raimondo in Donizetti’s »Lucia di Lammermoor«, Ramfis in Verdi’s »Aida«, Fiesco in Verdi’s »Simon Boccanegra«, Cardinal Brogni in Halévy’s »La Juive«, as well as Fasolt and Fafner in Wagner’s »Das Rheingold« and »Siegfried«. He has also performed other major bass roles in operas by Richard Wagner, including Hunding in »Die Walküre«, Gurnemanz in »Parsifal«, King Marke in »Tristan und Isolde«, and Daland in »Der fliegende Holländer«. In addition, guest engagements have taken him to the Deutsche Oper Berlin as King Heinrich in Wagner’s »Lohengrin«; he has appeared as Sarastro in Mozart’s »Die Zauberflöte« at the Staatsoper Stuttgart and as Pogner in Wagner’s »Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg« at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden.
