Eva Buchmann

Director Eva Buchmann reduces her productions to the essentials and expands the field of vision by focusing on music. The artistic director of Punto Arte creates opera productions in Italy that subsequently tour worldwide. Her work is based on the thoughtful simplicity of touring stages. Recent productions include Haydn’s opera »Lo Speziale«, Beethoven’s »Fidelio«, and Rossini’s »La scala di seta«. Beyond her experience on large stages, Buchmann has made it her mission to explore new spaces. Guided by original direction, she brings great opera magic to opera houses, factories, palaces, and warehouses with small-scale productions in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the USA. The Swiss native studied cello, psychology, and music therapy and worked for several years as a music therapist in a children´s psychiatric clinic. She made her directorial debut with a production of »Die Fledermaus« at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, followed by numerous invitations from both domestic and international venues. Since 2018, she has been working as a guest lecturer at the Academy of Music in Łódź, Poland.
