Versatility, musicality, and technical precision are the hallmarks of French conductor Ariane Matiakh. The daughter of two opera singers studied orchestral conducting in Vienna, where she also sang in the Arnold Schönberg Choir under conductors such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Adam Fischer. Since the 2022/23 season, Matiakh has been principal conductor of the Württemberg Philharmonic Orchestra Reutlingen. As a guest conductor, she regularly works with leading orchestras such as the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and many others. In the field of opera, she made her conducting debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Today, Ariane Matiakh’s repertoire includes numerous operas as well as a wide range of symphonic works and ballets, including world premieres of works by Bryce Dessner, Philippe Hersant, and Sally Beamish. In recognition of her achievements in French musical life and as a representative of French culture abroad, Ariane Matiakh was appointed Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2022.
