Soprano Renate Arends showcases a diverse repertoire, from early music to contemporary works. She has performed under the baton of renowned conductors and opera directors such as Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Iván Fischer, Marcus Creed, and Jan-Willem de Vriend. Currently based in the Netherlands, she is a sought-after guest soloist for numerous orchestras both locally and internationally. Her performances have taken place at renowned venues such as the National Opera and Ballet in Amsterdam, Theatre an der Wien, and opera houses in Lyon, Nice, and Nantes, as well as at the Scottish Opera, portraying a wide range of roles. Besides her opera work, Renate Arends is inspired by the Lied repertoire and has collaborated with esteemed pianists such as Roger Vignoles and Paolo Giaccometti. In addition to her participation in a DVD recording of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, she has recorded numerous CDs. Arends pursued her studies at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and furthered her education at the International Opera Center Netherlands and the Steans Institute in Chicago.
